Chipata Municipal Council starts putting traffic lights

The face of Chipata town has continued to change as Chipata Municipal Council starts to put up traffic lights on three main junctions of Umodzi Highway.

A check by Breeze News at Church, Hospital and RCZ junctions yesterday found workers working on the traffic lights.

Town Clerk Davies Musenga says that the council has sub-contracted a company called Mofan Suppliers to carry out the works.

Mr. Musenge says that the whole project, which includes putting of street lights will gobble 1.4 million Kwacha.

He says that the local authority could have made a lot of progress in putting street and traffic lights but vandalism of street light cables has been dragging them behind.

Mr. Musenge reiterated that the local authority hopes to complete the works before the end of this year.
