Farmers refuse to deal with Food Reserve Agency

Farmers in Nsingo ward of Luangeni Constituency in Chipata are not taking their maize to FRA, Food Reserve Agency Feni depot.

This is despite the buying exercise having started last month.

One of the farmers Frick Tembo told Breeze FM staffer, Raphael Banda that the buying price of 85 Kwacha for a 50 kg bag is too low compared to the price offered by private buyers.

Mr. Banda however, noted that this poses a danger to the country’s food security.

He called on fellow farmers to desist from selling all the maize stating that they need to keep enough for home consumption.
