FDD dropped aspirant for mayoral position vows to campaign against his party

Forum for Democracy and Development FDD candidate for mayoral Osward Mphande has dismissed reports that he attempted to use illegal means to file in his nomination papers yesterday.

Speaking to Breeze News Mr Mphande indicated that he never presented an adoption certificate because he was not given the document by FDD National Chairman, Mumamba Potfar Chungu.

He says that Mr. Chungu had assured him that he would be given the certificate but was shocked that it was instead given to Males Phiri Mvula.

Mr. Mphande, who expressed disappointment over the matter, charged that he will campaign against Mr. Chungu whom he says is supposed to contest the Chipata Central seat.

Confusion ensued yesterday at Chipata Municipal Council chamber after Mr. Mphande and Mrs Mvula both presented their papers for nominations on the FDD ticket.

When contacted for comment, Mr. Chungu stated that the party will report Mr. Mphande to the police for obtaining an adoption certificate without the consent of the National Executive Committee.

Meanwhile confusion in the adoption of parliamentary candidates has continued with a PF, Patriotic Front Party aspiring candidate for Kasenengwa constituency ditching the ruling party after being dropped.

In a letter addressed to the PF leadership in Kasenengwa Constituency, which was availed to Breeze News, Charles Zulu says that he has withdrawn his candidature on PF ticket and has ceased to be a member of the ruling party.
