Katete Council Chairman, Abraham Zulu impeached

Councillors in Katete district have impeached their council chairman, Abraham Zulu, for putting the name of the council into disrepute.
The resolution to impeach Mr. Zulu was arrived at by 19 councillors out of 21, at a meeting held on Monday in Katete.
Mr Zulu, who is Chavuka Ward Councillor in Mkaika Constituency, however declared interests in the voting process.
Katete district council has 22 councillors.
The councillors alleged that Mr. Zulu had been issuing conflicting statements to members of the public regarding CDF, Constituency Development Funds allocated to a bus station project, saying that the funds had been misapplied.
When contacted, council secretary, Wamulume Aongola, could neither confirm nor deny, but said that the two MPs in the district, Peter Phiri for Mkaika and White Banda for Milanzi, are better placed to comment on the matter.
