The Patriotic Front PF candidate Gabriel Namulambe has taken an early lead in the Mpongwe parliamentary by-election.

Mr. Namulambe has so far polled 4,167 votes while his closest rival Rabson Chilufya for UPND has 2,699.

Miniver Mutesa for MMD has polled 815 votes, while National Restoration Party NAREP candidate, Regan Ndhlovu has 554 votes.

These results are from 39 out of 48 polling stations. ECZ is still collecting ballot boxes from other polling centres, which cannot be easily accessed by road but by chopper.
