President Edgar Lungu releases about 30 inmates from various prisons in Eastern Province.

About 30 inmates from various prisons in Eastern Province have been released in commemoration of the Africa Freedom Day.
Eastern Province Prisons Regional Commander, Paul Mwizabi Simasiku confirmed this to Breeze News.
Superintendent Simasiku says that among the 30 inmates, 29 are male while only one is a female from Chipata.
He explained that the President released 14 inmates from Chipata, five from Lundazi while Petauke and Nyimba had four inmates each released from their respective prisons.
Superintendent Simasiku says three prisoners were released in Nyimba district.
And Mr. Simasiku says that the release of the 30 inmates will assist in decongesting the congested prisons in the province.
Yesterday, President Edgar Lungu pardoned and released 159 inmates across the country under the Presidential powers vested in him by Article 59 (d) of the constitution of Zambia.
