TBZ assures desparate farmers in Eastern Province

Tobacco Board of Zambia TBZ says it will mop up all the crop that has been stuck due to lack of market in Eastern Province.

TBZ Board Chairperson, Rhidah Mung’omba told Breeze News yesterday that farmers should not worry because their crop will be bought.

Mr. Mung’omba says that TBZ is hopeful that by next week, all logistics will be in place so that farmers can sell their crop and concentrate on other things.

He stated that TBZ will not abandon farmers because they had put in a lot of effort to produce the cash crop.

Mr. Mung’omba further explained that TBZ is putting in place measures to ensure that the issue of farmers getting stranded with the crop does not happen again.

He says that farmers need to ensure that they register with EFAZ, Eastern Fodya Association of Zambia for the next farming season.
