Thousands of mourners have gathered at Edingeni palace in Mzimba district, in readiness for the burial of Paramount Chief M’mbelwa of the Ngoni people in Malawi.
Breeze FM Staffer, George Luanja reports that Malawi’s President, Joyce Banda will lead mourners in paying their last respects.
Paramount Chief Mpezeni, Paramount Chief Kalonga Gawa Undi and other Ngoni and Chewa traditional leaders are among the mourners attending the funeral.
Paramount Chief M’mbelwa Zwangendaba Jere died on Tuesday at Mwaiwanthu Private Hospital in Blantyre after succumbing from diabetes and hypertension.
M’belwa is survived by four children. Mkhosi Jere is the heir.
