Tobacco Board of Zambia says the tobacco industry in Eastern Province will not collapse.

Tobacco Board of Zambia TBZ has dismissed fears that the tobacco industry in Eastern Province is heading for a downfall.
TBZ Chief Executive Officer, Samson Muyembe says that challenges that have engulfed the industry are just a passing phase.
Mr. Muyembe says that although some tobacco sponsoring companies have pulled out from Eastern Province, the region still has a chance to recover.
He says that this is not the first time that Eastern Province has faced such challenges.
And Mr. Muyembe has assured independent tobacco growers in Eastern Province that their crop will be bought before the marketing season closes on October 31st.
