The Youth Development Foundation, YDF, has charged that Chipata Municipal Council has failed in providing service delivery.
YDF Provincial Director, Chinoya Muyeye has expressed concern that the local authority is failing to pay for street lights, effectively remove garbage from markets and cut overgrown grass.
Speaking during a press briefing this morning, Mr. Muyeye says that reasons being given by the local authority that they do not have resources is unacceptable because the council collects revenue.
He noted that government is becoming unpopular every day because of Chipata Municipal Council’s failure to provide services.
Mr. Muyeye says that there is need for the local authority to be up to date with payment of salaries to its workers.
Meanwhile Mr. Muyeye has demanded transparency in the way the local authority is issuing residential and commercial plots in the district.
