Provincial Agricultural Coordinator, PACO, Dr. Obvious Kabinda and DACO, Chipata District Agricultural Coordinator Michael Ngulube have been suspended from work for unknown reasons.
The two officers are reported to have not received their suspension letters yet.
And when contacted for a comment, Dr. Kabinda confirmed the suspension but referred further queries to the Permanent Secretary.
Meanwhile Provincial permanent Secretary Dr. Chileshe Mulenga stated that his office does not discuss administrative matters in the media.
The suspensions come barely a day after the PS warned that he would take action against some provincial head of departments who reported for work later than 07:30 hours.
Meanwhile Eastern Province Permanent Secretary Chileshe Mulenga has urged supervising institutions in charge of projects to be doing their work.
Dr Mulenga told Breeze News in an interview that most supervising institutions do not supervise the works leading to contractors doing bad works.
And the permanent secretary says contractors working on roads in Kasenengwa Constituency in Chipata district have resumed work after abandoning the projects.
He says the contractor working on Madzimawe road had abandoned the works awaiting evaluation but that he was advised to continue.
Dr. Mulenga has appealed to the residents and the people of Eastern Province to be the eyes of the government and take keen interest in infrastructural development.
He has also appealed to the local authority to be serious and visit the contractors regularly so that they supervise the works.
He says he will take necessary actions on supervisors who will certify substandard works by contractors.
