A 20 year old man of Chadiza district has pleaded guilty to defiling a 12 year old girl.
Appearing before resident magistrate Fabian Likulunga was Alicangel Phiri of Gundu village in Chief M’lolo’s area.
It is alleged that on 5th February this year, Phiri defiled a 12 year old girl.
Facts before court are that on the mentioned date whilst the juvenile was coming from school at around 16 hours, Phiri dragged the girl into the bush and had canal knowledge of her.
A ten and nine year old boy testified before the court that they saw Phiri dragging the girl into the bush.
And during mitigation, Phiri said that he has a 72 year old grandmother and a younger brother and sister that he is looking after.
However, Resident Magistrate Likulunga said he is satisfied with the evidence presented before the court adding that he has no powers to sentence Phiri but to commit him to the high court for sentencing.
And in another development, a 75 year old man of Dobvu village, in Chief Zingalume’s area has appeared in court for stealing 6 shutters belonging to Chadiza Day Secondary School.
