A 28 year -old farmer sentenced to 30 years imprisonment with hard labour for defiling a four year old- girl.

A twenty-eighty year -old farmer of Mambwe District has been sentenced to 30 years imprisonment with hard labour for defiling a four year old- girl.

High Court Judge In charge, Jane Kabuka has jailed Mwandila Shaka of Kabalika village in Chief Mkhanya’s area who was convicted of one count of defiling a girl contrary to the Laws of Zambia.

The court heard that the accused around 15:00 hours on 26 January this year, sent the girl to go and buy a biscuit at the shop and it was at that time that he followed and defiled her.

One of the witnesses in the case, Martha Sakala heard the girl crying in the bush and found the two standing two meters apart. Medical examinations confirmed that the girl was defiled.

Ms Justice Kabuka also slapped a 25 years imprisonment sentence with hard labour to a 50- year-old watchman of Petauke District for defiling a 15 year old girl.

Particulars of the offence were that Lyson Banda of Showground on 22nd February 2013 defiled a three year old girl.
