A 45-year-old man in Chipata sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for defiling his 10 year old step daughter.

The Chipata High Court has sentenced a 45-year-old man to 20 years imprisonment with hard labour for defiling his 10 year old step daughter in Chipata.

Before High Court Judge Flavior Chishimba was Fideli Banda of Chinjala area, who was convicted on one count of defiling a minor contrary to the Laws of Zambia.
Particulars of the offence are that on unknown dates but between 1st and 30th September, 2014 in Chipata, Banda had canal knowledge of his step daughter.
Facts before the court are that the accused took advantage of the girl when her mother was away in Malawi.
And Ms Justice Chishimba has also jailed Adamson Phiri 26, of Chikhombe village in Chief Kawaza’s area in Katete district to 15 years imprisonment with hard labour for defiling a 14 year old girl on 2nd of August last year.
Facts before the court are that the girl was sent to Nkungulu village to go and buy scones and sugar but on her way she met the accused who was cutting poles in the bush.
The accused later dragged the girl into the bush and started having sex with her.
Meanwhile Ms. Justice Chishimba has also sentenced Tryford Phiri of Chibawu village in Chief Kawaza’s area in Katete to 15 years imprisonment with hard labour for indecently assaulting an 18 year old girl on 7th December last year.
