A businessman arrested in Chipata for corrupt practices involving over 7,000 Kwacha.

The Anti-Corruption Commission ACC in Chipata has arrested a businessman for Corrupt Practices involving over 7, 000 Kwacha.
ACC Public Relations Officer, Timothy Moono has confirmed the arrest of Martin Njekwa, 51, of Plot No. 48, Kapata Township in Chipata.
Mr. Moono says that Mr. Njekwa has been charged with one count of Corrupt Practices by Public Officer contrary to Section 19 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012.
Details are that on unknown dates but between 1st February 2014 and 15th February 2014, Martin Njekwa employed to perform public functions as a Chipata Consumer Watch Group Volunteer for the Energy Regulation Board corruptly solicited for 7000 Kwacha cash.
This was gratification from Mohammed Uzair Ishmail, the managing director of Oasis Filling Station in Chipata and actually received 5000 Kwacha cash and 10 liters of petrol from Mr Mohammed for him not to cause the arrest of Mohammed for operating Oasis Filling Station without a licence.
Njekwa has since been released on Bond and will appear in court soon.
