A contractor engaged to rehabilitate Mwase Dam in Lundazi district has allegedly abandoned the project.

A company engaged to rehabilitate Mwase Dam in Lundazi district is reported to have abandoned the project.
This came to light during DDCC, District Development Coordinating Committee meeting in Lundazi.
Lundazi District Agriculture Coordinator, Philemon Lungu reported that the contractor abandoned the site after the dam he was working on breached in February this year.
Mr. Lungu further said that his office has written to the provincial office recommending for the termination of the contract.
And Members of the DDCC expressed concern over contractors doing shoddy works in the district.
District Education Board Secretary, Hebert Mwinga stated that it was high time that members of the committee start challenging contractors performing shoddy works.

Mr. Mwiinga wondered what was happening in Lundazi, stating that within a short period of time after Sable Construction Company performed unsatisfactory road works, CCCL had failed to complete the dam works.
