Nabvutika market in Chipata district has been gutted by fire.
A check by Breeze News at the market this morning found some stands at the market have been burnt to ashes.
And Eastern Province Police Commissioner, Grace Chipalila confirmed the incident, which occurred in the early hours of this morning.
Ms. Chipalila says that police officers went to the scene around 01: 50 hours to put out the fire.
Meanwhile, Ms. Chipalila says that yesterday’s Chipata Central by-election was non-violent.
She says that there was nothing alarming, as the police officers were on the ground to maintain law and order, which they are still continuing to do.
A fire has swept through Nabvutika market in Chipata reducing some trading stands to ashes.
