Police have picked a body of a grade 12 school girl of Katete Day Secondary School in a bush near the school playing fields.
Both Eastern Province Deputy Police Chief Alfred Nawa and Katete Day Secondary School Head teacher Boaz Daka have confirmed the death of 19 year old Naomi Daka.
Naomi had signs of having been raped and strangled to death.
The girl was also stabbed on the face by sharp instruments suspected to be knives.
Naomi, who comes from nearby Mkoma Ni Mau village, in Chief Kawaza’s area in Katete is believed to have gone to school to conduct evening studies around 1900 hours with two other girls that included her younger sister.
Naomi is said to have asked her friends to keep her books as she went back to relieve herself but never returned.
Mr Nawa says that police were investigating the murder, while Naomi’s body is lying in St Francis hospital mortuary.
