A heavy storm damages infrastructure at Kapoche Day Secondary School in Katete district.

A heavy storm has left Katete’s Kapoche Day Secondary School partly destroyed with an unaccounted for number of school materials damaged.
Speaking to ZANIS in Katete, Kapoche Day Secondary School Head Teacher Acrimna Chirwa said Kapoche area on Friday experienced a heavy storm between 19 and 20 hours, which left the school and teachers’ houses damaged.
Mrs. Chirwa narrated that the storm also partly blew off the roofs to the school library, school hall, four teacher’s houses and a one by three classroom block.
She however, indicated that the school calendar will not be affected by the damage to school infrastructure as the contractor, a Chinese company was already on site to repair the damaged roofs.
The Head Teacher further appealed to government to quickly send some books to cover up for those damaged by the rains.
She said this year the school has put in place a deliberate plan of planting and preserving trees to create a wind shield considering the geographic location of the school.
