A Malawian national has been arrested for trafficking in 10.7 kilogrammes of loose cannabis.
Drug Enforcement Commission DEC Public Relations Officer, Theresa Katongo has confirmed the arrest of Adam Phiri, of Bokola village in Mchinji District.
And Ms. Katongo says that the DEC has arrested over 35 people countrywide for trafficking in various quantities of cannabis.
She says that the commission has arrested Robby Mwansa, 55, a Peasant farmer of Malole village in Mumbwa District for trafficking in 15.6kg of loose cannabis and Nelson Mumba, 21, of Nakoli area in Kabwe District for trafficking in 13.4kg of loose cannabis.
Others include Joseph Tembo, 55, a peasant farmer of Nyundo village in Chibombo District for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 10.72kg.
And the Commission has arrested Robert Sangambo, 34, a peasant farmer of Mabebe area in Kabompo District for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 12kg.
Ms. Katongo says that all suspects will appear in court soon.
