Police in Chipata have arrested a named male lecturer from Chipata Trades Training Institute for allegedly molesting male students.
Eastern Province Police Chief, Alex Chilufya says the male Maths lecturer was allegedly practicing sodomy with male students at the learning institution.
Mr. Chilufya says Police received a report from the school authorities last week that one of their male lecturers has allegedly been inviting male students to his home and involved them in sexual acts.
He says the lecturer admitted by way of writing a letter that he involved some male students in a manner that would suggest sexual practices.
Mr. Chilufya however, withheld particulars of the lecturer and students as police are still investigating the matter.
Meanwhile police in Chipata have arrested two people in connection with the robbery that happened at Eco Bank in Lusaka.
Eastern Province Police Chief, Alex Chilufya has named the suspects as Ronald Kalenga 25 and Raymond Mwape 26 both of John Laing Township in Lusaka.
He says police recovered cash amounting to 85, 000 Kwacha and foreign currency amount to 3, 430 United States dollars.
Police also ceased a three bedroomed house bought by the suspects at a cost of 240, 000 in DK Township, a Toyota Harrier, LG music system and a four set Sofa as proceeds of crime.
Mr. Chilufya says Kalenga and Mwape were arrested after a tip off from people that the duo was hiding in DK area.
He says that investigations into the matter are underway to assist police arrest other crime collaborators.
Meanwhile, a 23 year suspect criminal from Mchini Compound in Chipata died from Chipata Central Hospital after collapsing in police cells at Chipata Central Police.
Mr. Chilufya says John Mungule was facing a charge of theft of properties adding that he assisted the police recover most of the stolen goods within Chipata before he died.
He says the case is still on despite the death of the suspect.
