A man sentenced to one year imprisonment for dagga

The Chipata Magistrate Court has today sentenced a 24 year old man of Munga Compound in Chipata to 12 months imprisonment for being found with psychotropic substances contrary to the laws of Zambia.
Lackson Lukhelo has been sentenced by Magistrate Stanford Ngobola after being convicted on one count of being found with dagga weighing 850 grams.
Particulars of the offence were that Lukhelo was arrested by the DEC, the Drug Enforcement Commission, on the 15th of June 2015 in Chipata.
Passing ruling this morning, magistrate Ngobola sentenced Lukhelo to 12 months imprisonment.
The magistrate also ordered that the bicycle and dagga he was found with should be forfeited to the state.
