Government has identified a new contractor for the construction of Nyimba District Hospital.
Nyimba District Commissioner, George Phiri confirmed to Breeze News that the contract has been awarded to Wahkong Enterprise.
Works had stalled for months after the previous contractor, Yashab failed to mobilize his equipment for the project.
Mr. Phiri says the contractor has been given a period from May to June 6th to mobilize his equipment on the site.
He says the first phase of the project, which will be from June this year to June next year, will gobble about 9.2 million Kwacha.
Meanwhile the District Commissioner says Nyimba District has received 200 metric tonnes of relief maize from DMMU, the District Management and Mitigation Unit.
Mr Phiri says 100 metric tonnes has already been distributed to the affected areas by Caritas.
He says the other 100 is being distributed by World Vision Zambia.
He mentioned Chieftainess Mwape, Senior Chief Lwembe and Chief Nyalugwe as the hardest hunger hit areas.
