Disabled people in Chipata have complained over lack of safe drinking water at Lutembwe farm for the disabled.
Chairperson for the Zambia Federation of the Blind, Samson Njobvu told Breeze News that people at Lutembwe Farm block are drawing water from Lunthwele stream.
Mr. Njobvu says that the water is not safe to drink because of the many activities that people do in the stream like washing and bathing.
He says that the only borehole at the farm was damaged and has not been repaired.
Mr. Njobvu has appealed to government to assist them by drilling a borehole which he says will also be of good use for irrigation farming in the gardens.
And Mr. Njobvu has continued appealing to government to connect power to the hammer mill at Mphando in Walela area.
He reiterated that once the hammer mill is operational, it will assist disabled people move out of the streets as they will have to work and generate income.
A problem of safe drinking water has hit Lutembwe Farm for the disabled in Chipata.
