A research has revealed that most retirees in Zambia do not use their terminal benefits wisely.
National Pension Scheme Authority, NAPSA Area Manager, Elija Mahamba says that this has to some great extent resulted into these retirees dying early because of stress.
Speaking during a NAPSA meeting in Chipata this morning, Mr. Mahamba explained that this was the reason why NAPSA prefers to use pension system of paying its members unlike the lump sum system.
Mr. Mahamba says that the pension system allow retirees to have a stable financial base, which allows them to manage their lives well.
He says workers should use part of their salaries to invest unlike waiting for a pension to build a house or engage in business because it does not normally work according to plans.
And Mr. Mahamba revealed that NAPSA has observed a lack of interest among Zambians in NAPSA contributions, which he described as unfortunate.
