The Drug Enforcement Commission DEC in Chipata has impounded a truck carrying 279 kilogram of lose cannabis.
DEC Public Relations Officer, Theressa Katongo confirmed to Breeze News that the incident happened on Monday around 22 hours.
Ms. Katongo says that the driver of a Nissan Atlas truck and the other passengers abandoned the vehicle upon seeing DEC officers approaching them along the Great East Road at Msekera turn off.
She says that the truck is believed to have been coming from Malawi via Mwasemphangwe.
Ms. Katongo says that a manhunt has been launched for the driver and the passengers.
