Government has released about 250,000 Kwacha towards the completion of construction works of Umi Primary School in Chief Mwase Nthembwe’s area in Lundazi.
The works were abandoned by Gabman Contractors of Lusaka in 2009.
Nthitimila Ward Councillor Mackson Bili confirmed the development to Breeze News in Lundazi.
Mr. Bili stated that the funds will mainly go towards the completion of 5 teachers’ houses, 2 VIP toilets and 4 toilets for pupils.
He indicated that government was yet to identify the new contractor to complete the project which has stalled for the past six years.
And Mr. Bili has appealed to government to award the contract to a contractor who would be committed to complete the project.
He commended government for releasing the funds stating that the money has come at the right time when the community is eager to see the project completed.
