About 2 million Kwacha Rebased worth of goods, was lost during last Thursday’s riots in Katete.
This came to light when Eastern Province Minister Malozo Sichone met business people whose shops were rooted during the riot.
And speaking during the meeting, Yahya Collector, owner of Isusiyas shop and Khali Esmail, owner of Everything Goes shop, said that the affected business people in the district are in a terrible state, as it will be difficult for them to re-establish their businesses.
They said that there is need for the police to enhance security at Katete Stores where shops are located, as Katete boma is far.
They also called on government to see ways in which it can help them re-establish their businesses.
And Eastern Province Minister, Malozo Sichone assured the business people that government will ensure that security is enhanced in the district.
