About 300 people in Eastern Province have allegedly been swindled out of over one million Kwacha by a company involved in building materials.
The money, which various individuals paid to Ikulile Initiative Enterprise to be supplied with bags of cement ranges from 20 thousand Kwacha to One million Kwacha.
A group of affected people yesterday stormed the provincial administration offices demanding to seek audience with Permanent Secretary Chanda Kasolo over the matter.
Some of the affected people, Saulosi Phiri and Oliver Mushanga told Breeze News that authorities at Ikulile have been giving them excuses for some months now whenever they go to try and collect their cement.
Mr. Phiri and Mr. Mshanga said that they visited Ikulile offices yesterday with other clients but were shocked to find them closed.
And a check by Breeze News at Ikulile Initiative Enterprise Chipata Branch yesterday confirmed that there was no business activity taking place.
Ikulile opened its operations in Chipata early last year and promised to assist people to build houses through supply of technical assistance and buildings materials.
Efforts to get a comment from Ikulile Initiative Enterprise Chief Executive Officer Hezborn Chintu failed as his mobile phone went unanswered.
