About 45 families staying in Mphomwa Forestry Reserve in Mambwe district have been issued with eviction letters.
Mambwe District Forestry Officer, Christopher Gondwe confirmed this to Breeze News.
Mr. Gondwe added that a named headman in the district has been selling land to people in the Forest Reserve.
He says this has attracted illegal activities like farming resulting in deforestation.
Mr. Gondwe says that the families should by the end of this month find another place to stay.
