About 5 million kilogrammes of tobacco bought in Eastern Province

About 5 million kilogrammes of tobacco has been bought from farmers this marketing season in Eastern Province.
Tobacco Board of Zambia TBZ Regional Inspector, Herold Siandula has confirmed this to Breeze Business News.
Mr. Siandula says tobacco buying companies in the region have spent about 8.8 million United States dollars in purchasing the produce.
And Mr. Siandula says that about 430,000 Kilogrammes of tobacco for independent tobacco growers is still stuck due to lack of market.
He says that the remaining tobacco is not much compared to about 2.2 million kilogrammes, which remained in 2011.
Mr. Siandula however, says that efforts are being made to ensure that the tobacco is bought since the marketing exercise has not yet closed.
