About 50 marketeers have benefited from the newly created commercial plots at the Saturday market.
Saturday Market Chairperson Peter Soko told Breeze News in an interview that the marketeers have been given offer letters by Chipata Municipal Council.
Mr. Soko says each marketer is paying 3,600 Kwacha to the local authority before starting the construction of their shop.
He says the market committee’s job is to identify the beneficiaries and demarcate the plots before allocating them to traders.
Meanwhile the Saturday Market Chairperson revealed that the market committee has found a contractor, who will put concrete slab in the newly constructed market shelters.
Mr. Soko says the contractor is awaiting for materials to start the works adding that only 16 pockets of cement is available while building stones and sand have not yet been procured.
