About 95 per cent of Compound D fertilizer delivered to Eastern Province

About 95 per cent of Compound D fertilizer has been delivered to various districts of Eastern Province for the 2015/2016 farming season.
Provincial Agricultural Coordinator, Obvious Kabinda told Breeze News that about 356,000 by 50 kilogramme bags of fertilizer have been delivered in various districts out of a total of 383, 578 by 50 kilogrammes bags allocated to the province.
Dr. Kabinda says that about 89,100 by 50 kilogram bags of Urea fertilizer have been delivered out of a total allocation of 368, 638, representing 24 per cent.
He however, says that the Ministry of Agriculture will start delivering the inputs to the farmers next month.
Dr. Kabinda added that some districts like Lundazi, Mambwe, Nyimba and Petauke will this year benefit from sorghum inputs because they are situated in the valley.
He says that that Chipata, Lundazi, Mambwe, Sinda, Petauke and Vubwi will be given groundnuts inputs because most farmers in the area grow the crop.
