Accusations of vote buying emerge in Chipata’s Luangeni Constituency.

Reports of electoral malpractices have emerged in Chipata’s Luangeni constituency.

This has forced some candidates to turn to ECZ, the Electoral Commission of Zambia asking that the electoral body gives guidance on donations being made by some candidates.

Yosi Miti, who is an independent candidate, has alleged that some candidates are distributing bicycles, chitenge materials and T-shirts to woo support.

Mr. Miti has charged that this amounts to vote buying, which is clearly against the electoral code of conduct.

He has appealed to ECZ to interpret whether this amounts to violation of electoral rules or not.
