The Africa National Church has appealed for assistance to build a provincial headquarters in Eastern Province.
Provincial Overseer, Bishop Samson Nyirenda made the appeal when Local Government Minister Vincent Mwale made a donation of building materials to the church worth 5,750 Kwacha yesterday.
Bishop Nyirenda says that the church has so many things to accomplish, among them, provision of religious training to its members, improve affordable skills and expansion of the church in the province.
He says the church needs more resources to construct the provincial headquarters and meet its objectives.
And Local Government Minister Vincent Mwale has asked the church to pray for politicians in order to maintain peace and unity in Zambia.
Mr. Mwale says that the church plays an important role of preaching peace and unity as well as to mediate issues among the political parties whenever there are conflicting opinions.
He says government recognizes the importance of the church and that is why it created the Ministry of Religious Affairs and National Guidance to promote unity in the nation.
Mr. Mwale says to honor God; government is building a National House of Prayer in Lusaka adding that the president has also set a day of national prayer on October 18th every year to foster reconciliation and forgiveness.
