Anoya Secondary in need of K900,000 to build a school hall

Over 900,000 Kwacha is needed for Anoya Zulu Secondary School in Chipata to construct an assembly hall.

And only about 15,000 Kwacha has been raised towards the project.

This came to light yesterday during the ground breaking ceremony for the project held at the school.

Chipata Central Member of Parliament Moses Mawere donated 100 pockets of cement towards the project.

Mr. Mawere, who is also Youth, Sport and Child Development Minister was represented by Chipata Mayor Sinoya Mwale to mark the beginning of the construction works.

Meanwhile School Head Teacher Joyce Mwiinga explained that apart from the hall project, the school has successfully executed other projects like the construction of the laboratory.

Mrs. Mwiinga further stated that the school has put other measures in place to make sure that pupils are well disciplined and achieve the desired results.

She says the students, who were known for throwing stones and being trouble makers have changed for the better academically and in terms of discipline.

The head teacher added that last year, the school recorded  79 per cent pass rate at grade nine level and 75 percent pass rate at grade twelve level.
