Anoya Zulu hikes user fees

Anoya Zulu Secondary School in Chipata has increased school fees from 750 Kwacha to 1,050 Kwacha per year starting 2017.

This was agreed with parents during PTA, Parents Teachers Association meeting held at the school yesterday.

Proposals to have the fee hiked to 1,500 Kwacha were shot down in a heated debate among parents with the school administration and Kapata Ward Councillor, Naphtali Banda.

The meeting also saw a new PTA executive committee being put in place following elections that had parents voting by raising hands.

Meanwhile Anoya Zulu Secondary School yesterday held its first ever graduation ceremony involving over 300 grade twelve pupils.

Speaking at the event, Head Teacher Joyce Mwiinga said that the school administration and the teachers had done their work and it was now up to the pupils to pass the grade 12 examinations.

The colourful ceremony also saw some teachers and pupils, who produced good results in grade 9 and 12 examinations in 2015 and those who excelled in various subjects this year being awarded.
