Bandits have shot dead a man and stolen his vehicle in Lundazi district.

A man has died after being shot by bandits who later ran away with his vehicle in Lundazi district.
Eastern Province Police Commissioner, Grace Chipalira confirmed the incident to Breeze News.
Mrs. Chipalira says that Derrick Simasiku, a taxi driver of Mayard area in Lundazi district was attacked while with a friend.
Mrs. Chipalira says that the incident happened around 18:20 hours when three unknown men booked the taxi from Lundazi market to Lusuntha border.
She explained that as they were driving on the Lusuntha road, one of the three men asked to release himself in the bush and as he returned he lied that the vehicle had developed a flat tyre.
Mrs. Chipalira explained that the bandits then shot Simasiku while he was checking on the tyre.
She further says that the friend to Simasiku managed to escape and later reported the matter to police.
The provincial police chief says that police have launched investigations into the matter.
