Breeze FM managing director Mike Daka has been awarded for his contribution to press freedom in the country.
Mr Daka was awarded the Zambia National Commission for UNESCO WPFD Award during World Press Freedom Day celebrations held in Lusaka on Tuesday.
The award is an initiative of the Zambia national commission to appreciate media practitioners’ efforts in promoting press freedom.
The efforts were recognised in relation to the year’s theme, which is “Access to Information and Fundamental freedoms; this is your Right!
Mr Daka has over 30 years of media experience having worked for then Zambia News Agency ZANA, Times of Zambia and ZAMCOM, Zambia Institute of Mass Communications in senior positions.
UNESCO indicated that over the years, Mr Daka has carried out many analyses of media landscapes in various parts of the continent and contributed to several publications.
