Breeze FM staffer Peter Frank Banda has scooped this year’s Zambia Environmental Management Agency ZEMA electronic media award for contribution to environment and development held in Lusaka last evening.
And Deputy Minister of Lands, Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, Davies Mwango says government is committed to providing environmental management and development.
Speaking when he graced the ZAMA Media Awards, Mr Mwango appealed to other institutions to work hand in hand with ZEMA for the country to move towards sustainable development.
The deputy minister appealed to individuals to take responsibility in protecting the environment and urged recipients of the awards to continue the work of creating awareness towards environmental protection.
Apart from Breeze FM’s Peter Banda, ZNBC’s Paulcent Ndovi also won an award in the electronic category while in the print media category Gift Chanda of the Post Newspapers and Alex Ndjovu of Zambia Daily Mail also walked away with awards.
ZNBC’s Pennifer Sikainde Nyirenda walked away with the Singy Hanyona award.
The awards are part of the annual commemoration of World Environment Day, which falls on June 5th and are given to individuals and organisations who exhibit exemplary passion in environmental awareness, protection and adherence.
