Some villagers in Chief Misholo’s area in Chipata could face serious hunger later in the year.
This is because the villagers are excited with attractive maize buying prices which buyers are offering to purchase their produce.
The development has worried Headman Musamaria, Rab Mawere, who has appealed to the villagers to stop selling their maize.
Speaking to Breeze News, Headman Musamaria says that some villagers are selling all their maize instead of leaving some for home consumption.
He explained that the buyers, who have invaded the area, are buying a 50 kilogramme bag of maize at over 100 Kwacha, which farmers find difficult to resist.
The traditional leader however, warned that the villagers should desist from the habit of always asking for relief maize after selling all their maize.
