Caritas Chipata says it is disappointed in the manner that farmers who sale their maize to FRA, the Food Reserve Agency are being treated.
Caritas Governance Programs Coordinator, John Mthaziko Zulu says in a press statement availed to Breeze News that a random check in the first and second week of October revealed that FRA is still owing a good number of farmers.
Mr. Zulu says that this will make it difficult for farmers to plan and purchase the inputs for the 2014 farming season.
He has observed that no one cares much about whether the farmers have been paid or not because farmers do not go on strike like other workers will do when government delays to pay them.
Mr. Zulu has appealed to government to ask FRA to be paying farmers on time.
