Over six thousand Kwacha worth of goods have been stolen at St. Anne’s Catholic Parish in Chipata.
The incident which happened in the early hours of yesterday saw armed robbers stealing from Bishop George Lungu and Father Matheus Phiri’s apartments.
Secretary to the bishop, father Jacob Zulu told Breeze News in an interview that various items were taken by the intruders after threatening to shoot the bishop.
Father Jacob says the intruders pounced on a guard and tied him up then directed Bishop Lungu to his apartment after he went to check on what was happening to the guard.
He says the items taken include a bishops cross, two laptops, episcopal ring, a passport, three mobile phones, metallic valuables and official documents.
Father Jacob says the matter has been reported to police who are carrying out the investigations.
