Catholic church alleges high levels of corruption in government

Government has been challenged to take serious steps in fighting corruption.

Chipata Diocese Bishop George Lungu says that corruption is very high in most of the government departments.

He says that vulnerable youths are finding difficulties to access the much needed services and employment because there is no one to push their applications.

Bishop Lungu was speaking during the 50th Anniversary for Chadiza Sacred Heart Catholic Parish, which was also attended by Eastern Province Permanent Secretary Chanda Kasolo.

He disclosed that he has been receiving youths in his office begging him to speak on their behalf so that they can get employed by government.

The clergyman expressed concern that the future of those who do not have relatives in government is being destroyed because they cannot access jobs due to corruption.

He says that this has extended to government schools and colleges.
