Chadiza district is reported to be one of the leading districts with high malaria cases in Eastern Province.
This came to light during the commemorations to mark the end of SADC, Southern African Development Community malaria week being held in Chadiza.
The other districts with high malaria cases are Katete, Mambwe and Nyimba.
Chadiza District Commissioner, Paul Phiri says that out of a population of over 1,033 people, close to 1030 had malaria in the district last year with at least 37 deaths.
Mr. Phiri says that the figures indicate that almost everyone in Chadiza was diagnosed with malaria.
Mr. Phiri added that in September this year, 695,076 malaria cases have been reported out of over 1, 038, 780 people and 19 deaths were recorded.
And Assistant Secretary, Zacharia Luhanga says that Zambia has continued to make progress in the fight against malaria.
Mr. Luhanga says that government has engaged traditional leaders in the fight against malaria.
