A man has been seriously wounded after being shot by an unknown person in Chadiza district.
Eastern Province Police Commissioner Alex Chilufya confirmed this to Breeze News.
Mr. Chilufya says the incident happened on Sunday at Kalichelo village in Chief Mwangala’s area.
The incident happened when Bernard Banda 54 and his friend Sakote Banda aged 62 from the same village went to the bush to collect fibers.
He says Bernard Banda was shot at by what is suspected to be a mazo loader gun.
Mr. Chilufya says that Banda sustained three deep cuts on his body and could not manage to find the suspect.
The victim is admitted at Chadiza District Hospital.
He says the police have started investigating the matter to establish the source of the shooting.
