Charcoal burning banned in Chamalile and Nyangwe forests in Lundazi district.

A group headman in Chief Mwasenthenbwe’s area of Lundazi district has banned charcoal burning in the area.
Aisweni Nyirenda and four other headmen have resolved to ban charcoal burning because of the indiscriminate cutting down of trees at Chamalile and Nyangwe forests.
The decision was made at a meeting held at Mapili village by Headmen Dabeo, Kaseka, Gomani and Mambali following rampant cutting down of trees, which has left Nyangwe Forest a bare land.
The traditional leader observed that the continued cutting down of trees will have a negative impact to the community in the surrounding area.
He further indicated that anyone found wanting risks facing the law of the land.
