Chief Chanje of the Chewa in Chipata district has declared his chiefdom as a no go area to unscrupulous maize buyers.
Speaking to Breeze News at his palace, the traditional leader says that he has instructed his headmen to be on the lookout for briefcase buyers in his area whom he says will be severely dealt with if caught.
And Chief Chanje has advised his subjects to desist from selling off their produce to briefcase buyers to avoid hunger this year.
He says that because of the poor rainfall patter in the 2012/2013 farming season, villagers should avoid making losses when selling their maize.
And Chief Chanje says that councillors in his area need to work harder to improve on the roads as some of them have become impassable.
He appealed to government to look into unfinished works citing Chimdidi Bridge as one of the incomplete projects that needed to be looked into before the onset of the next rainy season.
