Chief M’bang’ombe calls for better soluations to fight child marriages

Chief M’bang’ombe of the Chewa speaking people in Katete district has observed that there is need to find a lasting solution to ending child marriages in the area.

The traditional leader told Breeze News that most Chiefs in the area have played a big role in spearheading the campaign against early marriages but there is no change.

Chief M’bang’ombe says the problem is that government and some organizations campaigning against early marriages do not provide support to the children after retrieving them from marriages.

He says most young girls retrieved from marriages have not gone back to school due to lack of sponsorship and have opted to go back to marriage life.

Chief M’bang’ombe says the only way to end child marriages is by finding sponsorship for victims of child marriages for them to go back to school or attend skills training.
