About 96 thousand Kwacha will be spent on works of constructing a station for short route minibus operators in Chipata.
Chipata Municipal Council Director of Administration, Brian Mazuba told Breeze News that the works are being carried out under the PPP, Public Private Partnership arrangement.
Mr. Mazuba says grading of the ground has already been completed while a local contractor will soon start constructing an ablution block at the station.
Mr. Mazuba says the local authority is using its own resources while the PPP has also contributed funds towards the works.
He however, could not state when the works will be completed but says the drivers may start using the station as works for constructing an ablution block are underway.
Mr. Mazuba says this is because the station is the only designated place where minibus drivers can operate from and will assist decongest other bus stops in the district.
He stated that buses operating on the Chipata-Chadiza and Chipata-Katete routes will also start operating from the new station in Kapata area.
